Senior Geotechnical Engineer - Mining Projects

Currently an opportunity has arisen for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer- Project Leader with extensive experience within the mining sector to take a key role within one of their major divisions in Saskatchewan. Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer- Project Leader within the mining division you will have the opportunity to make major contributions to a wide variety of challenging domestic and international projects. It is anticipated that the successful candidate would work both independently and in a team environment liaising directly with clients at a project management level. Demonstrated leadership in health, safety and sustainability is a prerequisite.

• Geotechnical/Civil studies for mining infrastructures;
• Rock analysis;
• Technical proposals and reports preparation which may include: design, analysis, foundation and earthworks design, slope stability analysis and construction documents;
• Integrate with other technical discipline leads performing pre-feasibility and feasibility level mining assessments;
• Liaison with National and International mining clients, including project identification and preparation of proposals;
• Ensuring client satisfaction, including maintaining existing good relationships and establishing new ones;
• Leadership of project teams on consulting assignments;
• Ensuring quality control/quality assurance of field work, field data analysis and interpretation and engineering calculations;
• Assistance with mentoring and training of junior staff ;
• Project management, budgeting, scheduling and technical review;
• Delivering high quality reports on time and within budget; Assist with other project work as required.

Job Requirements:

• A Masters degree in geotechnical engineering;
• A minimum of 10-15 years experience in the mining industry or mining consulting business;
• Experience with Rock analysis;
• Experience with structure foundation and infrastructure design;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Leadership ability; Willingness and ability to travel.
