Trade Superintendent

JV Driver is a large industrial construction company, offering a full range of services for the oil and gas, forestry, petrochemicals, energy and mining industries. JV Driver is currently looking for thirty Trade Superintendents for various projects in Alberta. The Trade Superintendent is responsible to supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of the specific tradespeople and other support workers who are used to construct specific industrial projects.

Primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Meeting work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other departments or trades;
  • Requisition materials and supplies;
  • Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity;
  • Training or arrange for training of workers;
  • Recommending personnel actions such as hiring, promotions and discipline;
  • Ensuring standards for safe working conditions are observed;
  • Lead daily tool box meetings;
  • Preparing schedules, timesheets and progress reports.

The requirements and qualifications of this role include:

  • Journeyman trade certification in a relevant trade;
  • Three (3) or more years of experience as a qualified tradesperson in a relevant trade are required;
  • Five (5) or more years of working within an Industrial Construction Company environment;
  • Experience with MS Office Package;
  • Supervision experience is a must;
  • Ability to set and manage priorities to meet all deadlines;
  • Strong coordination skills and organization skills;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
