QA/QC Manager

JV Driver is currently looking for 5 QA/QC Managers for various projects in Alberta. The QA/QC Manager is responsible for supporting the Quality Department by initiating and performing the duties listed below as required, as well as other responsibilities assigned by the Corporate Quality Manager. The QA/QC Manager will also be responsible for delegating and assigning tasks to Quality Administrators.

The main duties and responsibilities for this position include:

  • Manage and oversee project quality to ensure compliance to codes, standards & quality program requirements
  • Promoting quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization
  • Managing the development and implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS) for construction, execution, inspection documentation, and operations activities including:
  • Planning duties within the QA/QC group to execute QA/QC activities
  • Establishing standards of service for customers, clients, and departments
  • Identifying & developing workforce planning schedule & quality related training needs
  • Providing functional leadership, mentorship, and direction of all project quality personnel
  • Assuming full responsibility for system releases once the particular discipline is ready to provide turnover of work
  • Developing and implementing risk based inspection activities and processes
  • Plant integrity and failure analysis reporting
  • Oversee supervision of all visual and NDE inspections including subcontractors
  • Creation of inspection and test plans for new construction, repair work, and alterations
  • Identifying and developing remedies how to rectify inspection gap issues

The required education, experience, and skills include:

  • Above average ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the
  • organization including craft, project management, corporate management, client
  • representatives, and outside regulatory authorities
  • Must possess and excel at co-ordination and organization of written and
  • verbal communication, with strict emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail
  • 15+ years working experience and knowledge as a professional within a heavy industrial environment
  • Experience working within local jurisdictional authorities and regulatory bodies
  • Must have a minimum of ten years' experience in understanding and performing quality inspection in a plant environment
  • Should be in possession of API certifications; including pressure vessels, piping inspection, and above ground atmospheric storage tank inspection and be familiar with all other codes specific to industrial construction
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and spreadsheet applications
  • Solid understanding of requirements associated with project specific documentation related to turnover, inspection, testing, installations, and quality control, including understanding of safety related implementations

  • Supervision of safe storage and verification of all project related documentation
  • Experience with managing field engineering related to all project disciplines
  • Experience in project management, including project execution
  • Experience in planning and communicating with engineering groups
  • Solid understanding of constructability and construction execution sequence

  • Ability to develop and manage non-conformance and reporting programs including root cause analysis
  • Experience in developing and monitoring of project inspection budget
  • Experience in erection and inspection of steel tanks to insure compliance with standards and regulations including tank floors and roof sections
  • Experience performing corrosion monitoring and fitness for service analysis of pressure equipment
  • Ability to ensure correct codes, standards, job specifications, and project procedures are properly utilized and adhered to
  • Experience with the creation and administration of weld tracking database
  • Must have the ability to work within strict deadlines, and under pressure while maintaining a professional demeanor
