Mechanical & Utilities Supervisor

 We are currently seeking a Mechanical and Utilities Supervisor to work permanently in Brandon, MB.

Scope of Work:

As the successful candidate you will provide leadership in the Maintenance department

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating maintenance activities, liaising with Production, identifying process and productivity improvements and you will play a key role in the annual plant shut down

The Mechanical & Utilities Supervisor will be responsible for the supervision of 9 employees including pipefitters, welders, millwrights, and laborers

Main Duties:

  • Coordinate and organize plant maintenance work to ensure proper job standards are met, striving for the highest level of operating efficiency, thereby lowering product input costs
  • Accountable for the testing, inspection, and maintenance of two 2000hp Babcock & Wilcox boilers
  • Prioritize and coordinate work with Production to optimize manpower productivity and minimize plant downtime
  • Assist Maintenance Manager in developing and maintaining department policy and budgets
  • Assist in the identification of employee training requirements
  • Review and make recommendations for improvement with respect to workforce and task planning
  • Communicate with the Process/Project group to ensure all maintenance work is consistent with project design objectives
  • Order materials and coordinate contract labor during plant shutdowns
  • Support and take a leadership role in the safety program which includes leading safety meetings, planned inspections and planned job observations
  • Promote safety and housekeeping standards

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Maintenance experience at an industrial facility
  • Industrial Trade Certificate (Red Seal) and/or Technology Diploma and/or a relevant degree from a post-secondary institution
  • Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Class 1 Power Engineer would be strongly preferred
  • Proven leadership and technical abilities, past supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong computer and organizational skills
