Health and Safety Engineer

Position Description

• Under the direction of the EHS Manager, the Health and Safety Engineer will support the daily Health and Safety functions for the Kawneer Company, Inc. (an [Company] company), in Springdale, AR. Accountable for ensuring that the Health and Safety activities reduce risk, eliminate incidents, and are performed within external regulatory requirements and internal management guidelines

The incumbent will:

• Be accountable for the development, implementation, and documentation of Health and safety programs in accordance with Local, State, and Federal OSHA requirements, and well within compliance of [Company] and Kawneer policies and management systems.
• Accountable for the preparation, submission, and documentation of all OSHA reporting requirements; accurate submission and completion of all incident reporting to Kawneer and [Company] within designated deadlines and reporting process guidelines; preparing and submitting all Kawneer and [Company] required monthly and quarterly performance index reports and metrics.
• Responsible for approval and procurement of HS for PPE, I/H, noise testing, training resources, and any other Health and Safety vendors as required. Serves as liaison with Kawneer, [Company], regulatory agencies, and outside vendors in the area of Health and Safety. Acquires and maintains accredited training related to Health and Safety.
• Ensures required regulatory / [Company] training is conducted, documented, and safety training attendance records maintained for all Kawneer, Springdale employees.
• Conducts safety observations, manages PPE and assist with safe work practice activities.
• Participates in OSHA-recordable and incident investigations.
• Travels as necessary for training, best practice sharing, and to assist with EHS improvement activities
• Monitors all critical measurement systems through audits and daily evaluations to ensure that these systems are in control
• Performs other duties as may be assigned by the EHS Manager

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Engineering, or relevant Bachelor's degree plus one year professional experience in Health and Safety in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of applicable Federal and State Safety and Health regulations.
• Strong communication, analytical and human relations skills
• Working knowledge of environmental processes and principles
• Skilled in use of personal computers with emphasis on analytical software.
• Excellent verbal/written communication, presentation, training/leadership skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills
• Ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and work in a team environment is essential.
