Planning Engineer

Excellent opportunity for a Planning Engineer to work on a number of multi $billion iron ore, oil&gas and infrastructure projects based in WA.

One of the fastest growing and successful Civil Contractors in Australia is seeking a 4-5 years experienced and competent Project Planning Engineer to work in Primavera P6 for these large scale Mining, Infrastructure and Oil&Gas projects while working in the Perth based team as a permanent staff member. Once schedules are established, the Planner is responsible for timely, quality updates and analysis, and that deviations from the plan are communicated to project management. This is a great opportunity to join a professional up and coming organisation and be involved with these landmark projects. Responsible for scheduling, project progress and performance reporting, cost planning and resource leveling, you will have senior level capabilities in scheduling and management, 5 years + experience working on large projects for civil work packages and a record of long term employment (2 years plus) within a contractor team .


Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with and obtain information from EPCM, contractors, site superintendents and project managers for updating and reporting purposes
  • Project planning and schedule development, maintenance and monitoring for all phases of the programme, including engineering, procurement, construction
  • Resource loading of project schedules, leveling and analysis in P6
  • Prepare regular status reports and forecasts for project management and client review
  • Prepare revised contract programs and schedules
  • Monitors and reports critical path and schedule performance of total project
  • Project schedule analyses and studies of problem areas to determine criticality of schedule

Experience working for a contractor will be highly regarded as is experience in using the various Project Management software tools, especially Primavera P6.
 

Required Competencies and Skills: 

  • Minimum 5 years + hands on industry experience in planning and scheduling in a construction environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to produce and revise resource loaded schedules
  • Experience and ability to use nominated planning and spreadsheet software (Primavera P6)
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Program
  • Demonstrative knowledge of conceptual and detailed planning of small to large civil projects from conception to commission
  • University Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or a related discipline
