MSP Technician- Mining Laboratory

Description
Laboratory Responsibilities

  • Learn all standard hydrometallurgical analyses and procedures
  • Maintain/repair lab equipment
  • Ensure that ISO requirements are met for each instrument
  • Optimization of reagent formulations
  • Lab Administration
  • Maintain chemical inventory and storage
  • Track hydrometallurgical analysis
  • Perform testing for customer related projects
  • Prepare samples per customer requests
  • Prepare laboratory QC solutions, diluents, and standards. Ensure that samples meet specifications.
  • Maintain equipment
  • Log and report results of all testing
  • Profile Analysis
  • Perform analysis on plant profile samples
  • Log and report results to Technical Sales group

Comprehensive Technical Service Program

  • Update database
  • Sample tracking
  • Results tracking
  • Write/Revise standard operating procedures (SOPs)

Customer Support

  • Deal Directly with Sales Team and perform any analyses requested
  • Fulfill sample requests from customers, requests range from unique blends to neat reagent
  • Responsible for performing unique plant specific analyses

Qualifications

  • BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Required:

  • B.S. degree in chemistry/metallurgy or other related discipline
  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills –
  • Demonstrate the ability to build and sustain strong relationships within the Technical Services group
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Self-directed and motivated
  • Knowledge of standard laboratory techniques
  • Proficient computer skills – specifically Microsoft Office, Excel and Lotus Notes databases.

Desired:

  • Practical knowledge of Atomic Absorption
  • Proficient computer skills – specifically SAP
