Plant Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

• Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, production machines and equipment using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring testing instruments. Diagnoses machinery components and determines if and when adjustments or repairs are required.

Required Skills

• Observes mechanical devices in operation and troubleshoots problems
• Dismantles device to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools and power tools
• Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections
• Inspects used parts to determine changes on dimensional requirements, using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments
• Adjusts functional parts of devise and control instruments using hand and/or power tools
• Repairs or replaces defective parts
• Installs special functional and structural parts in device
• Perform welding & cutting skills
• Advise the Maintenance Supervisor of any operational problems
• Perform preventative plant maintenance
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
• Complies with all Safety, Health, Environmental and other Company policies, procedures and requirements
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent experience preferred
• Experience: Three (3) years’ experience in the construction/mining/concrete industry preferred
• License: Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record required
• Must have sufficient working knowledge regarding plant component repairs and replacements. Must be able to troubleshoot equipment to diagnose problems and minimize downtime for repair and maintenance activities. Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English including reading and writing.
