Assistant Quality Assurance Coordinator

• Manages all issues associated with the product test lab, including lab personnel, coordination of product testing, maintenance of existing equipment and selection and commissioning of new equipment
• Manage measuring and testing equipment calibration function.
• Ensures the completion of product certification packages.
• Perform periodic audits to ensure conformance with documented work procedures. As required, participate in TPG internal and external audit functions
• Monitor downgrade trends and communicate issues to QA and Operations. Develop improvement opportunities.
• Provide dispositions for product on quality hold
• Provide technical assistance for shop floor quality issues
• Participate in product and process trials with steelmaking and research personnel.
• Provide vacation relief for the Quality Assurance Coordinator when permissible
• Investigate, analyse results and compile reports on product claims.
• Provide support to third party inspection personnel
• Develop training literature for quality inspectors or lab personnel

Education And Experience

• Recognized Degree in Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering
• 3 years minimum experience in quality control/systems a plus
• Understanding of ISO Quality standards and Quality Management Systems
• Knowledge of pipe and /or steel mill processes and operations
• Knowledge of tubular industry standards including API, CSA, and ASTM.
• Trained in quality auditing
• Capable of using MS Office tools such as MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
• Good technical writing skills
• Experience working with interdepartmental teams at all levels of management to accomplish tasks.
