Plant Supervisor - Mobile Equipment

Job Description

• The Plant Supervisor - Mobile Equipment Maintenance will be involved in the daily activities of the mobile equipment shop.  These activities may include, but are not limited to, building a culture that promotes safe behaviors that prevent injuries and fosters employee involvement and managing maintenance, service and/or repair of any and all related heavy off-road equipment.
• Direct responsibilities will include: leading safety and coaching employees to identify and correct at risk behaviors resulting in an injury free culture; supervision of mobile equipment maintenance activities; ensuring customer satisfaction through delivering a quality product to customer requirements; and managing effective labor relationships.
• This position reports to the Plant Manager (Maintenance). The individual will also provide supervisory relief from time to time when other supervisors at McCook are absent or on vacation. Additionally, this may involve rotating weekends with the Supervisor team as needed.

Required Skills

Education, Experience, Skills Required:

• BS or Technical Degree preferred but not required.

Experience:

• Preferred 3 - 5 years’ experience in management within mobile equipment maintenance.
• Mining/ Processing is a plus.
• Experience in the management of union employees preferred.
• Experience in the management of Safety, Health, and Environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Solid track record, successful safety leadership and strong mobile equipment  maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of MSHA laws and requirements is a plus.
• Ability to plan and manage effectively in a fast paced environment.
• Basic computer skills (having intermediate level skills using Microsoft Products such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills including coaching and conflict resolution.
• Ability to represent VMC in a professional manner to all customers, vendors, and internal personnel.

Physical Requirements:

• Use of telephone, computers, cell phones and other electronic devices is essential.
• Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds and to stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Must have the ability to drive a pick-up truck on a daily basis; there may be a periodic need to travel by airline.
