Senior Mining Engineer – Brisbane based – Highly profitable operation

This major mining company is currently expanding their current operations and requires a Brisbane based Mining Engineer to assist with this development. They have completed works on their sample pit returning strong results with low strip ratio and high quality giving high margins and a long mine life. This profitability will give you security in the role within a market that currently has a high level of uncertainty.
Currently they are running an array of scenarios ranging from the scale of processing plant, infrastructure, pit shells and production. This will give you a strong position in the company to make decisions and have level input into the future of the operation.


The Role
You will be required to undertake the long and medium term planning for the asset. Working with a small technical services team, you will report to the Principal Mining Engineer with close liaison with the Project Manager. With so many scenarios to analyse you will be a crucial part in selecting optimal production targets to run in conjunction with the processing plant and available infrastructure.

Final plans for the operation must be in place by the end of 2013 so extensive work must take place through all aspects of development prior to then to ensure the optimal profitability and the highest NPV is gained.


Your Background and Experience

• Tertiary qualifications in Mining or a related discipline
• Experience in working through medium or long term planning in a large scale open cut mining operation
• Mine design and planning experience using such as XPAC, Minescape, Vulcan
• An ability to work within a close team
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
