Network Administrator

SMS Equipment Inc. supplies equipment parts and service to the construction, forestry and mining industries and utility product users. It was created to provide customers with integrated solutions and to expand our service capabilities as a nationwide organization.

Reporting to the Supervisor, IT Infrastructure, the Network Administrator will be responsible for the design, implementation, management, disaster recovery, planning and testing of all aspects of the SMS network, VoIP and Wireless systems. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Ensuring connectivity of all servers, shared software, groupware and other applications
• Creating/maintaining documentation relating to system configuration, mapping, processes and service records
• Managing network performance as well as recommending and implementing enhancements
• Overseeing data communication networks and telephone system functions

Qualifications

Typically requires a post-secondary degree in a related field, as well as a minimum 5 years of relevant experience. Additional qualifications include, but are not limited to:

• Proven experience in systems and network design and development
• Solid understanding of network infrastructure and operations including switching, routing, Ethernet and TCP/IP
• Experience managing technical projects
• Self-motivated and directed with a keen eye for detail
