Strata Control Officer

Leading Gold Mining Group is looking for an experienced and qualified Strata Control Officer for one of their Mines near Westonaria.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Have grade 12 or equivalent qualification with Mathematics and Science
• Be computer Literate
• Have a Chamber of mines strata control certificate
• Have good communication skills
• Have a minimum of 2 years experience in the rock engineering environment of a mechanized mine.
• Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk based medical examination at the relevant GoldFields Occupational Health Centre

Key responsibilities:

• Regular inspection of working faces and documentation of strata control issues
• Quality control of support installation and monitoring of new support units as per Code of Practice
• Quality control of secondary support and installation.
• Investigating and reporting on falls of ground, panels lost and action required to improve conditions and standards.
• Ensuring full compliance to all applicable legislations and mine standards within the area of responsibility.
• Managing and maintaining all rock engineer systems

Advantageous:

• Production Supervisor, Mine Overseer’s certificate.
