Global New Markets Practice Director Climate Science – North America
Description and Desired Qualifications
- Our Market Director career path leads and builds the senior management consulting and business strategy aspects of the Climate Science practice and contributes to both the business growth strategies and the financial models of the business. Each day, you will play a major client-facing role in business development engagements and strategic program engagements. The incoming Practice Directors will extend their knowledge of climate science, atmospheric modeling, climatology, meteorology, mathematical modeling, GHG management, and general management consulting to create appropriate business opportunities for the organization. You should be a self-motivated program development leader with key clients and major wins globally on complex climate science projects and have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with every project or program.
Our New Markets Practice Directors:
- Are recognized within the climate science market and the general environmental industry as iconic and thought leaders.
- Have deep networks within industry organizations to aggressively establish and expand the global client base in the principal practice areas of climate science.
- Provide executive level technical reviews of all complex programs and projects within the new market to ensure total client satisfaction.
- Build [Company] image and professional reputation with the management, control and execution of all competencies associated with climate science.
- Promote culture of accountability for program and project managers in the new market area for budget and cost control, value creation, return on investment, and profit optimization.
- Partner to recruit and provide highly effective, dynamic management and leadership to [Company] climate science staff.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, engagement, quality service, and customer satisfaction.
- Support the development and delivery of a detailed business growth strategy that aligns with the firm's strategic direction as well as the customer's mission, vision and objectives.
- Ensure [Company] is positioned for large, long-term program and services opportunities.
- Contribute to and brief pursue/no pursuit and bid/no bid recommendations and develop pursuit strategies for new business opportunities.
- Manage the funding sources associated with the development of the practice, the acquisition of new technologies and strategic hires.
Basic Qualifications
- Able to perform in a role which requires approximately 50% travel.
- Master’s degree in a technical or business discipline and significant consulting experience.
- A minimum of 20 years of experience in climate science, environmental, development, or management consulting work.
- Solid working knowledge in these areas:
- Climate science based on a background in atmospheric modeling, meteorology, mathematical modeling, GHG management, and general management consulting
- Able to demonstrate experience capturing major programs and developing and winning proposals.
- Able to demonstrate proven leadership qualities including a self-directing work approach, high energy, and ability to function effectively in large complex organizations, have a strong track record of managing within budget allocations, strong marketing skills with ability to attract subordinates to the practice areas.
- Able to demonstrate a desire to market effectively both new and existing clients, and be able to establish a solid working relationship with customers, technical staff, managers, subcontractors and peers.
Preferred Qualifications
- 20-30 years of experience in climate science, environmental, development, or management consulting work.
- Publication and presentation experience is highly desirable.
- Discipline specific professional registration.
