Engineering Manager/Lead Mechanical Engineer

Due to a number of new and exciting opportunities in our Minerals and Metals division, we are looking for an Engineering Manager/ Lead Mechanical Engineer to supervise mechanical engineers on studies and projects and coordinate the delivery of multidiscipline engineering design, for the Montréal office.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver mechanical engineering design according to required timeframes and standards by supervising the performance of mechanical engineers, reviewing deliverables and providing high level technical expertise.
• Facilitate the purchase of appropriate equipment by specifying requirements and assisting Procurement with the purchase of equipment
• Contribute to the cost-efficient delivery of mechanical engineering by managing the man hour budget and reviewing and approving mechanical capital cost estimates, recommending alternative approaches where possible.
• Evaluate tenders from a technical standpoint by applying multi-disciplinary knowledge and experience
• Assist the development and review of relevant mechanical contracts by providing advice and input as required
• Issue drawings and other relevant information for construction by working with Engineers and Designers
• Motivate Lead Engineers and other project team members towards superior performance by supporting daily performance and providing ongoing mentoring and training

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 20 years mechanical design engineering experience in mining, mineral processing, materials handling and/or heavy industrial.
• Ability to resolve most technical issues in an efficient manner utilizing personal knowledge, external consultants and in-house experience.
• Knowledge of multi-discipline engineering.
• Prior experience leading mining and mineral processing Mechanical project teams.
• Proven ability to lead teams.
• Commitment to mentoring and coaching of personnel.
• Ability to complete performance reviews on study and project personnel.
• Proven ability to manage, motivate and influence employees at all levels.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Well developed written and oral skills. (French and English)
• Ability to prioritize tasks for the design team and manage time effectively.
