Engineering Manager

Our client, a major utilities organization in the GTA, is searching for an Engineering Manager to join their team. Reporting to the VP Engineering, the Engineering Manager will be responsible for supporting, managing, and developing all staff within the department as well as managing all budgets and projects. This position puts a strong emphasis on the people management aspect with a focus on training and development.

Key responsibilities:

• Create and enable training and development programs for staff within the department
• Monitor budgets and performance of department and suggest improvements when needed
• Review and approve all Engineering designs
• Manage and approve budgets and deadlines to reach company goals
• Managing all projects by giving direction to either the Engineering Supervisor or staff directly to ensure all targets are achieved
• Create all departmental budgets and plans for business while liaising with other departments
• Work with the Health and Safety department to ensure all standards are being met and to help improve the performance of the department

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years experience in a management role in an electrical utility
• Engineering Degree and P Eng designation
• Prior experience with people management and development, budget management, and a strong business acumen
• Advanced level Microsoft Office skills
