Industry Market Specialist- Energy

Job Description:

  • The Industry Market Specialist- Energy will be responsible for creating brand preference and end-user demand for all [Company] products within the Power Generation vertical.  Possesses in depth industry knowledge and expertise.  Engages end users soliciting voice of the customer feedback on the use and application of [Company] products.  Uses that application knowledge to develop industry specific product portfolios, marketing materials, and services.  Ultimately provides the BDS sales team with all the tools necessary to drive revenue and market share in the power generation industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create an industry specific strategic plan designed to:
  • Create end user brand preference
  • Gain market share
  • Drive sales back through our channel partners
  • Develop appropriate market segmentation within the industry vertical
  • Knows how to engage with end users to secure preferred supplier status agreements and strategic alliances
  • Develops industry specific product portfolios where user input drives new products and modifications to existing products
  • Can effectively communicate [Company] value proposition to upper level procurement and executives
  • Provides training materials necessary for our channel partners and our BDSs selling within the energy segment
  • Understands the use and application of our products in power generation markets
  • Develops industry specific promotions and marketing campaigns
  • Provides solutions with an emphasis on cost of ownership versus price
  • Through practical experience and research is seen as an expert in the industry
  • Documents success stories and solutions so best practices can be shared throughout the corporation
  • Communicates significant developments and trends within the industry
  • Knows the users business and understands what causes them pain
  • Is a member of various industry associations and uses those memberships to network within the industry
  • Knows well in advance what major projects are in the works and positions [Company] to be present up front
  • Provides BDS's with appropriate user target account lists Develops industry segment educational information in the form of Sales Tool Kits
  • Develops industry specific collateral material
  • Leverages the training teams capabilities to gain end user access
  • Supports the overall Business and Market Development strategic plan
  • Is engaged with appropriate social media outlets for industry information, leads, and contacts
  • Provides routine communication amongst his or her peers fostering the adoption of best practices

Qualifications

  • Ability to sell solutions and services beyond products to achieve financial goals
  • Reasoning abilities and analytical thinking
  • Enjoys solving customer application problems
  • Self-Starter, ability to function with some ambiguity and without close management
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral. Strong presentation skills
  • Well-organized relative to time management, and associated administrative functions
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work the necessary hours to effectively execute the job responsibilities
  • Responsible handling of expenses, demo and trial equipment, and other company assets
  • Knowledge of material handling products and their applications in specific industries
  • Proficient in computer related skills
  • Committed to self-improvement and always looking for ways to build on their skill set
  • Is adaptable to a rapidly changing industrial market
  • Highly motivated, articulate, competitive and persistent

Education and Experience 

  • Associates degree or equivalent; Bachelors degree preferred; and/or 15 plus years industry experience
  • 3-5 or more years related sales experience
  • Experience in industrial sales with expertise in specific verticals preferred
  • Knowledge of technical products and user applications
