Quality Manager

Job Description:

  • Plans, coordinates, and directs quality program consistent with ISO 9000 requirements, emphasizing 6-sigma tools and methods, to ensure quality control and quality assurance of the production of products consistent with established internal and external specifications.  Manages the Heat Treat Department. Performs the following duties personally or through direct reports or team functions.

Essential Duties:

  • Assist in formulating and maintaining quality objectives supporting corporate and company strategic plans. 
  • Study new processes and products and in conjunction with Engineering and Production  personnel define appropriate quality check points, test methods, and record keeping systems.  Writes procedures and designs forms to supplement as needed.
  • Analyze data from scrap reports, customer complaints, nonconforming material reports, and other data sources to isolate deficiencies in quality or production systems.  Work with appropriate personnel from other departments as needed to resolve problems.  Analyzes returned goods and determines appropriate corrective action.  Notifies customer by fax, email, or phone of analysis and action as required.
  • Manages MRB and audit team system.  Oversees audit function and corrective action procedures.
  • Develops and delivers training as needed on procedures and work instructions.  Serves as resource to teams as needed.
  • Maintain document control system including procedures, work instructions, standard work documents, forms, tables, specifications, and visual examples.
  • Read and interpret external specifications.  Determine testing requirements to comply with applicable external specifications.
  • Maintain quality test records.
  • Create and deliver product certifications as needed.  Work with customer service to address customer requests and complaints.
  • Coordinates all Quality check for incoming goods such as, but not limited to, galvanizing, machining and heat treat.
  • Releases incoming goods to production floor and makes all CMBIS related transactions.

Education/Experience/Training

  • A four year degree in science or engineering field is required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Strong problem solving and analytical skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong Word and Excel skills are required.  A green or black belt on Six Sigma is preferred.
