Entry Level Instrumentation & Controls Engineer

Description and Desired Qualifications

  • Our Entry Level Instrumentation and Controls Engineer Position will offer you an exciting opportunity to work in our Bellingham, WA office which specializes in the engineering and design of instrumentation, control systems and automation for Refineries; Chemical and Petro-chemical plants; Natural Gas Power plants; LNG Facilities; Pipelines and Compressor Stations; Fuel Storage and Loading Terminals; and other heavy industrial facilities. Each day you will be part of a team with overall responsibilities of I&C design engineering for refinery and other oil and gas related projects. You should possess a basic knowledge of electronics, electrical circuits, digital logic circuits, digital communication systems, power supplies, sensors, actuators, automation, control system theory, fluid mechanics; and a working knowledge of databases. You should also have a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science or similar from an accredited program and a desire to learn and grow with each new project.

Our Entry Level Instrumentation & Controls Engineers:

  • Under the direction of Senior Engineers or managers, perform routine assignments which are clearly defined and require the application of standard design engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
  • Prepare engineering specifications, equipment data sheets, wiring diagrams, control system functional block diagrams; and perform calculations in support of broader engineering activities involving the system design of sensors, transducers, instrumentation, electrical and process control systems; develop Boolean logic diagrams and emergency shutdown systems; make field trips and audits; gather and record information to be used for preparing technical performance specifications; review vendor information to assure compliance with specifications; and prepare technical reports.
  • Has a high degree of interaction with a variety of contacts including technical and non-technical peers, other engineering disciplines, clients, vendors, contractors, etc.

  • Preference will be given to candidates residing in the greater Bellingham area. [Company] will not sponsor a work visa (e.g. H-1B visa, etc.) to fill this position.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Chemical (or similar) from an accredited program
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering or EIT Exam
  • Proficiency in engineering related software
