Transportation & Logistics Manager

Job Description

• Position has responsibility in four key areas: 
• front-line leadership and direction of the trucking fleet and related assets, 
• ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company directives, 
• coordination with internal and external customers to ensure timely and accurate customer service,  
• full P&L responsibility for the terminal operations, and 
• cement dispatch function, including scheduling and delivery of cementitous products to concrete plants in specified area. 
• Responsible for managing the supply and availability of delivery vehicles to meet the needs of both internal and external customers. 
• Responsible for safe operation and management of the trucking operations to insure the safety and health of all employees and owner-operators.

Required Skills

Education:

• BS/BA degree in business, transportation management/logistics or related is highly desirable or an equivalent combination of training and relevant work experience

Experience:

• Requires a minimum of five (5) years prior work experience in the transportation (bulk delivery) business, with a minimum of three (3) years in a leadership capacity. Knowledge of environmental, safety and DOT regulations for both short-haul and long-haul operations.

• Must deal constructively with differences of opinion and be able to resolve conflict constructively. Ideal candidate will build a strong transportation team that operates with the highest ethical behavior. Must be willing and able to make unpopular decisions while maintaining the respect and trust of his/her co-workers and customers. Must be self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision.
