Assistant Controller

Company Info:

Our client a publicly traded producing mining company is looking for a bright, energetic candidate to join their finance team as an Assistant Controller. The Assistant Controller reports direct to the Corporate Controller and will be mainly responsible for the following:

• Prepare and/review of interim monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
• Assist with the preparation of the company's consolidated financial statements
• Assist with the review of all subsidiary companies' reporting packages and supporting working papers
• Assist with the preparation and review of the company's internal management reporting
• Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts
• Liaise with subsidiary reporting companies and external auditors
• Review the work of the Intermediate Accountant and subsidiary reporting packages

Job Description:

The ideal candidate must have the following qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in a small to mid-size publicly listed mining or manufacturing company with a complex corporate and consolidation structure
• A professional accounting designation
• Experience working in a multi-currency, multi-jurisdictional publicly listed company environment
• Strong understanding of current accounting standards (IFRS), changes, and applications
• A high degree of critical thinking, analytical, problem solving, and computation skills
• Strong computer skills and proficient using MS Office, including Excel (including the use of pivot tables) and Word
• Work experience using QuickBooks Premier Multi-Currency
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
