About the role:
Environment Advisor required to join a historic base metal operation in Townsville. Reporting to the Environment Manager, the position is accountable for assisting in the development, implementation and monitoring of environmental systems, programs and plans.
Responsibilities will include:
Lead and implement field investigations associated with various environmental projects
Provide technical advice for freshwater and estuarine/marine ecosystem monitoring, management and rehabilitation programs.
Ensure compliance with legislation, environmental standards
Manage projects and administer assignments conducted by external parties
Contribute to tender preparation, selection and review.
Liaise with regulatory authorities, government bodies and private organisations to meet legislative and other requirements.
You will liaise with safety and operations personnel, contractors, communities, local stakeholders and government departments.
Requirements:
Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or an associated discipline.
A strong background in ecohydrology and wastewater management is highly desirable.
Previous experience in a similar role with skills in environmental investigation, monitoring and compliance is desirable.
Good communication and problem solving skills.
