About the role:
Environment Manager required to join a historic base metal operation in Townsville. Reporting to the Director Environment & Sustainability, the position is accountable for leading the development and implementation of environmental management systems, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and corporate policies.
Responsibilities:
Lead the team in driving best practice and the continuous improvement of environmental management performance
Ensure the Environment Management System (EMS) is implemented and its effectiveness monitored
Implement and maintain processes for measuring and reporting on environmental compliance and performance in line with environmental management trends, issues and legislative developments
Lead and motivate a small team of like-minded environmental specialists, contractors, and external consultants
You will liaise with safety and operations personnel, contractors, communities, local stakeholders and government departments.
Requirements:
Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or an associated discipline.
Strong understanding of current environmental management practices mining operations, refining and mineral processing or heavy industrial.
Experience in environmental chemistry and/or ecological risk assessment would be highly regarded.
Previous project management experience in leading complex environmental investigations and the ability to implement solutions and change management strategies.
