Description:
- [Company] is seeking a motivated Public Health Impact Assessment Consultant to join our growing consulting firm in Seattle, WA. This is an excellent career opportunity to work with an expert global consulting team to help clients manage the sustainability risks associated with the social and community health issues of their operations in the US and globally.
Responsibilities:
- Assess public health and socio-economic impacts of large-scale development projects in the US and internationally (e.g., oil and gas projects, roads, dams, mines etc.).
- Plan and conduct field research using quantitative and qualitative methods, such as literature review, household surveys, key informant interviews, focus groups, and others as required.
- Conduct technical report writing.
- Coordinate and facilitate the implementation of effective stakeholder engagement programs.
- Design and facilitate the implementation of practical corporate sustainability policies, programs and/or tools.
- Perform multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensuring high quality standards on project deliverables.
- Communicate with clients, [Company] employees, and vendors.
Requirements:
- Masters or PhD Degree in Public Health with a focus on epidemiology, community health, global health (or related) preferred. Urban planning, international development, environmental science or related field also considered.
- 2-10+ years of related experience for in corporate, industrial, government, non-profit or consulting environment.
- Professional field experience (community health research and stakeholder engagement) in a rural setting and developing country context or similar experience working with immigrant or indigenous populations in the US or Canada.
- Ability to plan and conduct field research and critically analyze primary and secondary public health and socio-economic datasets.
- Knowledge of the impact assessment process following international standards (e.g., IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles) and/or national environmental review regulations (e.g., NEPA) preferred.
- Effective communication and strong technical writing skills in English a must! Professional-level speaking and writing skills in at least one additional language (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) preferred.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate across multiple technical disciplines.
- Ability to maintain flexibility and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to travel and possibly work at project sites in remote areas for short periods of time. May require US-based and international travel.
