Job Description
Two Positions:

  • one is a "process-oriented engineer" the other a "project oriented engineer". Both for a corporate engineering center for a multi-location (international) minerals company.
  • Multi-site process engineering for a set of minerals plants throughout (primarily) the western U.S.
  • Manage process and/or projects related to operation, improvement or upgrades to these operations
  • Management of budgets (more of the "project" position), subcontractors, junior technicians and similar in effecting project/process improvement and management work
  • Management of multiple projects with minimal supervision. A very flat organization means that the person must work independently!
  • Familiarity or expertise in as many areas as possible: process controls, minerals processing, mechanical and/or general process management, chemical engineering, flotation, chemical reactions/kinetics and more
  • Familiarity or expertise in personnel, budget and production type management

  • Additional Salary Information: Salary can be starting at $55,000; more depending on experience. Bonus, benefits, etc. Relocation available.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimally a B.S. in Mechanical, Metallurgical (extractive/minerals processing), Chemical or similar engineering
  • 2 - 5 years of experience in a chemical, mining, petroleum or heavy industrial setting
  • Background in process engineering in as wide a range of process environments as possible
  • Experience linking a specific set of processes to finished product, plant efficiency, overall effectiveness, how a process will effect another, etc.
  • Able to work cross-functionally with other areas of engineering, on-site plant management, corporate management, etc.
  • Experience in plant and/or production management
  • Flexibility to work in plant/operations environment and office environment
  • Able to travel to work sites as well as work in the corporate engineering office
  • MUST be legal to work in the U.S.; must communicate completely fluently in English and have excellent communication skills

Preferred But Not Required:

  • Experience with as much of the following as possible (specialist in one area are acceptable):
  • Dry industrial minerals processing: crush/grind, materials transport, sizing, drying, etc Potentially similar to some food and utility industry processing
  • Flotation and leaching-type minerals processing
  • Chemical reactors
  • Control systems
  • Maintenance, CMMS, similar – management and familiarity on an operating basis (there is a full maintenance staff)
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office, statistical software

Working Conditions:

  • Outdoors and in plant: can be busy, dusty, noisy, raining, etc.
  • Must be able to walk a lot in a plant environment; lift up to 50 pounds
