Horizon Oil Sands
Horizon Oil Sands is an exciting part of our growth. Full production capacity for Phase 1 is 110,000 bbl/d of fully upgraded, light, sweet synthetic crude oil. We will see incremental production gains throughout the completion of future expansion and debottlenecking, with targeted full facility capacity of approximately 250,000 bbl/d. Further phases of expansion will bring the ultimate capacity to 500,000 bbl/d.

This position is based in Fort McMurray, Alberta and is eligible for:
• Relocation to Calgary or Fort McMurray

THE OPPORTUNITY:
Our Horizon Oil Sands operation is expanding with project spending for 2012 forecasted at approximately $1.55 billion with future projected spending of approximately $2 - 2.5 billion each year for the next several years.
The Electrical Maintenance Technician will contribute to the safety and reliability of equipment within the Upgrading and Utilities area of the Horizon Oil Sands plant. The Electrical Maintenance Technician will become the key technical resource directly supporting Upgrading and Utilities maintenance, operations and construction groups in the electrical discipline.
HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?
• Install, isolate, troubleshoot, clean, inspect, calibrate, and maintain electrical equipment (up to 5 kV) throughout the facility
• Coordinate the activities of the electrical maintenance contractor, ensuring all relevant procedures are followed
• Perform quality checks on work performed by the contractor
• Take proactive measures to address improvement opportunities through the “Management of Change” system
• Ensure work is adequately documented in the work order system (JDE)
• Collaborate with the Planning and Operations groups to scope out and prioritize jobs
• Identify and document problems in order to achieve an engineered solution
• Perform “hands on” work as required based on the criticality and availability of contractor personnel
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Typically 2+ years of related industry experience with Grade 12 or GED
• Journeyman certificate with inter-provincial status in the Electrical Trade
• Familiarity with and understanding of:
o Working as an on call shift Electrician technician
o Low, medium and high voltage electrical equipment
o Large horsepower motors, starters and isolating equipment
o Small and large horsepower VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives)
o Various PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and program troubleshooting
o Plant-wide DCS (Distributed Control System - preferably Delta V), vibration equipment and JDE CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) or equivalent
o Steam and Gas Turbine generators and controls
o Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
