Horizon Oil Sands
Horizon Oil Sands is an exciting part of our growth. Full production capacity for Phase 1 is 110,000 bbl/d of fully upgraded, light, sweet synthetic crude oil. We will see incremental production gains throughout the completion of future expansion and debottlenecking, with targeted full facility capacity of approximately 250,000 bbl/d. Further phases of expansion will bring the ultimate capacity to 500,000 bbl/d.

This position is based in Fort McMurray, Alberta and is eligible for:
• Relocation to Calgary or Fort McMurray

THE OPPORTUNITY:
Our Horizon Oil Sands operation is expanding with project spending for 2012 forecasted at approximately $1.55 billion with future projected spending of approximately $2 - 2.5 billion each year for the next several years.
The Lead Hand – Mechanical Maintenance will ensure that all activities completed by Mechanical Contractors meet or exceed the requirements set forth in company policies, standards and procedures regarding safety, production and quality.
HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?
• Monitor and keep record of the mechanical contractor’s performance adhering to the standards, policies and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
• Provide guidance and work with mechanical maintenance contractors
• Provide suggestions and recommendations concerning:
• Equipment availability and wear materials
• Proper maintenance procedures
• Component selection
• Participate in maintaining and reviewing LOTO (Lock-Out/Tag-Out) safe work plans with Operations and Contractors
• Maintain expertise in mechanical procedures and engineering standards, ensuring that all mechanical projects are executed in compliance
• Act as main point of contact between the Contractor and Canadian Natural in the field
• Confirm all necessary training is provided and crews possess knowledge to execute work
• Attend daily scheduled meetings; work with operations to ensure mechanical maintenance functions are in sync with operational requirements
• Ensure all mechanical systems in the business unit support the business needs
• Interface with operations, multi-discipline maintenance coordinators, contractors, QA (Quality Assurance) teams and engineering support staff, ensuring proper closure of work orders
• Participate with schedule development, hours required per work order and monitor execution. Report performance to scheduler for KPIs
• Maintain and be aware of rental equipment and crane costs, utilize in the most effective manner
• Work with the reliability and condition monitoring groups to ensure the schedule addresses risks to production
• Create contingency plans and assist the contract maintenance team
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Typically 5+ years of related industry experience, including 3+ years of supervisory experience with Red Seal Boilermaker certification, Degree or Diploma
• Familiarity with and understanding of:
o Engineering codes and standards
o Supervising a maintenance team
