This position is based in Fort McMurray, Alberta and is eligible for:
• Relocation to Calgary or Fort McMurray

YOUR OPPORTUNITY:
Our QA team is comprised of compact multi-disciplinary teams working on challenging and varied combinations of both project service and operational business. As a QA Specialist you can expect to work with a wide range of operations and project teams, contractors and manufacturers, to work outside of your specialised discipline at times and to develop new skills. Working with the Canadian Natural QA team will enable you to use your quality and technical expertise to ensure code compliance, safe, accurate and high-quality operations, maintenance and project activity.
• As a key member of the team, you will apply your industry experience to define, develop, review and apply the Horizon Oil Sands Major Project QA program
• Support the implementation and administration of project quality assurance while continuously monitoring programs/procedures
• Provide guidance and expertise in the utilization of various inspection technologies, on application of regulatory requirements, industry codes and company standards
• Implement Audit Program to measure quality performance of contractors and suppliers
• Assist contractors in achieving win - win outcome
• Contribute your expertise and hands on experience through the project life cycle from construction to commissioning and start-up and maximizing plant reliability with:
   o Power distribution switchgear
   o Motor control centers
   o VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) and PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers)
   o Electrical heat trace installations
   o DCS (Distributed Control Systems), SAP and other instrument installations
 
HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?
• Conduct compliance audits, both internally and externally, to verify conformance with the Project quality requirements
• Assist in the maintenance of quality record and technical databases to support reliability and integrity efforts
• Promote quality awareness and continuous improvement to influence the overall success of the project
• Support the implementation and administration of project quality assurance while continuously monitoring programs/procedures
• Provide guidance and expertise in the utilization of various inspection technologies
• Provide guidance on application of regulatory requirements, industry codes and Horizon Standards
• Implement Audit Program to measure quality performance of contractors and suppliers
• Resolve day-to-day QA issues as they arise and report issues to management
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Typically 5+ years of oil and gas experience with an Electrical Technologist Certification or Red Seal Electrical ticket and preferably an Instrumentation ticket
• Familiarity with and understanding of:
   o Working in both QA and Electrician roles
   o Canadian Electrical Codes (CSA) 
   o Audits to ISO 19011 of new project construction - ISO 9000/10911/14001 training courses recognized as an advantage
   o Power transmissions, distribution, substation transformers, building electrical system, DCS, PLC, DeltaV, fiber optics, installation of switchgear and heat tracing
   o Engineered drawings and Bill of Materials
   o Supervision of contractors
   o Performing an inspection function to written standards and procedures within an Owner Program and ensuring compliance to industry standards and government regulations
