Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd. (www.wesdome.com) is an established Canadian
gold producer with wholly-owned mining and milling complexes in Wawa, Ontario
and Val d’Or, Quebec. Wesdome has been producing gold continually for 25 years
and has poured over 1 million ounces of gold.
JOB
DESCRIPTION
The Chief Geologist is responsible
for demonstrating strong leadership, communication and a high quality of
occupational health and safety. The Chief Geologist will be responsible for
supervising geological staff, production and development geology, as well as sampling
and mapping.
Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited
to:

Preparation of Operational and Capital
Budgeting.
·
Management of day to day planning
activities taking into account monthly, yearly and long term production plans.
·
Geological modeling, mapping and resource
estimation.
·
Supervise and provide guidance for diamond
drilling contractors and drilling programs.
·
Prepare the monthly production grades &
tonnages from both development headings and other production areas.
·
Demonstration of “Safety First” focus and
act as a role model to junior staff
·
Coach, mentor and develop junior geological
employees.
The position is located near Wawa,
Ontario at Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd. Eagle River Mine.
Hierarchical relations
The Chief Geologist will report
directly to the General Manager.
Report and collaborate with the V.P.
of Exploration on all exploration and reserve estimations and issues.
Functional
relations
The Chief Geologist will work
directly with the mine, safety and maintenance superintendants as well as the
technical services coordinator and administration staff.
REQUIREMENTS
The successful applicant through the
demonstration of their leadership skills have a proven track record of
achieving production and budgetary targets while maintaining a safe and
efficient work environment.
Required
qualifications
·
BSc or BASc in Geological Sciences
·
5-10 years of operational and/or geological
experience in underground geology and grade control.
·
Strong communication and motivational
skills to maintain and promote a productive and safe working atmosphere.
·
Strong Team Player
