Our client requires the skills of a Safety Manager with experience in identifying hazards and risks. Join this large plant hire service company with an excellent reputation.

Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
  • A high degree of report writing and presentation;
  • NADSAM or similar Safety Risk qualification or degree.
  • Read and write in English.
  • Comsoc 1 + 2 certificates. SAMTRAC
  • Fire Fighting qualification / certificate.
  • Rock Engineering and Environmental certificate will be an advantage.
  • Blasting certificate for Opencast or U/Ground mines will be an advantage.
  • Mining experience in either open cast or u/ground operation will be an advantage.
  • Engineering trade qualification with at least 5 years’ experience will be an advantage.
  • Previous experience of at least 5 years in a supervisory position in a mining environment.
  • 2 to 5 years’ experience in the Health and Safety sector, opencast experience will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the MHSA 29/1996, OHSA, COID Act and all relevant legislation.
  • Must have a sound knowledge of the ISO Systems 9000, 14000 and 18000.
  • Knowledge and experience of the processes, equipment, hazards and risk associated with the mining industry.

Duties
  • Performing the legal duties assigned to a Chief Safety Officer (regulation 2.17.4) and Safety Manager
  • Knowledge of the MHSA 29/1996, OHSA, COID Act and all relevant legislation.
  • Must have a sound knowledge of the ISO Systems 9000, 14000 and 18000.
  • Implementing pro-active measures to minimize risk associated with the mining industry.
  • Accident investigation.
  • Compilation of month end reports, legal response documentation where necessary to DMR. General Safety and risk management document control and record keeping and communication with applicable Authorities;
  • Coordinating of all emergencies.
  • Performing Audits, Legal Inspections
