Primary Responsibilities
• Reviewing, analyzing and interpreting Contract Documents (RFP, specifications, drawings, and reference information) to develop detailed, comprehensive cost estimates.
• Independently evaluate, select and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to site development projects.
• Develop conceptual design for an assigned system that may include analysis, calculations, research, selection, layout, etc. necessary to develop required design documents.
• Coordinate estimate efforts with all project personnel in all disciplines and departments ranging in moderate to large or complex projects.
• Collaborate with entry and mid-level employees for skills development; review work progress and results and provide direction as needed.
• Utilize basic civil engineering software packages and computer-aided drafting software in accordance with industry codes and standards.
• Collaborate with various discipline and subsidiary groups to provide expertise and support business needs.
• Ability to understand civil construction methods and be able to clearly communicate the means and methods used to price an estimate.
• Ability to make assumptions based on experience when detailed plans are not provided and front end estimating is performed based on conceptual level designs.
• Ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs for earthwork, concrete work, structural and miscellaneous steel, underground piping and drainage.
• Identifying bid qualifications, risks, and assumptions along with quantities and pricing ensuring estimates and proposals are performed in accordance with company practices and standards.
• Participate in estimate reviews and presentations to department heads, estimate managers and executive management.
• Manage comparisons between self-perform estimates and subcontractor quotes.

• Five plus years industry experience in a construction estimating or design function
• Degree in Engineering or Construction with an emphasis in Civil or related field/estimating experience in lieu of degree.
• Strong background in Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suites, as well as Construction Estimating Software (Hard Dollar experience a plus).
• Experience with computer assisted engineering and design software, preferably Autocad Civil 3D, MicroStation, Agtek, and others.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license a plus
