Principal Project Manager



Job Description:
 
The Natural Resources, Industry and Infrastructure (NRII) Operation of MWH is seeking qualified applicants for a Senior level, Supervising/Lead or Principal Project Manager/Engineer for our Santiago, Chile office.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • The position involves all aspects of project management for small to large-sized international mining projects for an environmental consulting engineering firm.
  • Duties may include: proposals, planning, budgeting, recruiting, staffing, client relations, financial management, technical management, coordination of multi-discipline engineering efforts, subcontract administration, coordination of contractors, and contract and claims management.
  • The role will involve close coordination with Senior technical staff within the Global Mining Sector to ensure high quality deliverables and consistent project delivery to top tier clients across the world.
  • Serve as the project manager/director for all mine geotechnics projects for various clients in Chile. The scope of these projects may include mine reclamation, tailing dams, geotechnical assessment for dams, waste rock, pit slope and geotechnical characterization for hydropower project, or hazardous waste remediation.
  • Understand and possess ability to communicate technical concepts to staff and clients.
  • Coordinate efforts with the customer counterparts and ensure an ongoing positive relationship.
  • Supervise project engineers and staff in the successful delivery of technical projects.
  • Conduct business development activities including the identification of opportunities, proposal preparation, presentations, and contract negotiations. Must be able to identify the appropriate opportunities in accordance with the Company's risk profile, prepare campaign plans for pursuit and secure contracts.
  • Help achieve NRII Group strategic objectives; align resources with goals and pursue opportunities that meet group objectives.
  • Understand local business climate and develop new opportunities.
  • Establish strong, productive internal collaborative relationships with NRII Senior Management across the globe.
  • Work in a manner to ensure your personal safety and that of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies.
  • Perform additional assignments as requested by Senior Management.
  • Demonstrate leadership and teamwork skills.
 
Requirements:
 
  • M.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering or related degree with 15 to 20 years of experience.
  • Require experience in mine reclamation, tailing dams, geotechnical assessment of dams and hydropower projects, and/or hazardous waste remediation.
  • A proven track record to develop business and mentor staff is considered a plus.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel.
  • Excellent communications skills required.
  • Written and spoken fluency in English and Spanish.  Professional Engineer's Registration or equivalent preferred.
