Senior Accountant

Western Energy Company, a surface coal mine in Colstrip, MT has an opening for an Senior Accountant.

• Responsibilities will include a wide range of complex accounting functions and financial analysis.
• Also responsible for preparation, review and compliance of financial and budgeting information.
• A four-year degree in accounting, or a business related field and a minimum of 5 years experience in accounting/finance
• Thorough knowledge of fundamental doctrines, theories, & principles of accounting, financial analysis, & customer relations
• Must have working knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, SOX & business operations; must possess strong analytical skills
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, presentation, database software & ERP systems required.
• Previous mining industry experience &/or JDEdwards software is preferred.  CPA certification recommended.

This is a challenging position requiring an independent thinker with the ability to comprehend terminology & activities relating to the mining industry, accounting, & financial reporting.  Must be able to communicate effectively in both oral & written format & maintain professional relations with a wide variety of people- customers, auditors, etc.
