Senior Environmental Engineer

This position will be responsible for the environmental activities a surface coal mining complex. The incumbent will perform environmental design work for permitting and reporting and will work with federal, state and local authorities to ensure compliance with regulations. The position will report directly to the Environmental Manager.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with mine permitting and reclamation bonding calculations and accruals, environmental control structures and design and post-mining topography design work.
• Conduct inspection of all properties for environmental compliance requiring knowledge of mining and environmental law.
• Supervise activity of contractors involved in environmental activities.
• Perform field work including reclamation activities, monitoring, collecting and reporting for compliance as required.  
• Assure projects are completed on schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A Bachelor’s Degree in environmental engineering or related field is required. The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience.
• Proven computer proficiency in Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word), Microsoft project, and mine planning software (AutoCAD, SedCAD & Carlson Mine Planning) is necessary.
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks and assignments as required and work with minimal supervision.
