Gear Engineer

- The Gear Engineer
candidate must possess a very strong mechanical aptitude, creativity, project
management, communication and analytical skills as well as technically
understand the total ins and outs of ‘gearing’
- Experience /
understanding of high power density and how to optimize gear sets for various
parameters (i.e. power and high load) – is also required
- Knowledge of
shafting, bearings, seals and gear cases; understanding of heat treatment –
induction hardening or carbonizing; and knowledge of gear tooling and methods
is also preferred.
- The Gear Engineer
will design, analyze, manage, implement, test and troubleshoot mechanical
components and projects for Electric Mining Shovels, Draglines and Drills
- This may include
gearing, shafting, mechanical assemblies, mechanical components, castings and
small weldments
- Interface with
manufacturing, technical service, quality, other departments and customers to
research problems and identify solutions related to the design of components.
- Various tools will
be utilized to analyze and validate designs including UTS, FEA, TK Solver,
Excel and other in-house generated calculation programs.
Education Required:
- Bachelor Degree of
Science in Mechanical Engineer
