A world leader in the mining industry is seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to join the maintenance department of one of their open cut coal mines in Central Queensland.

The main focus of this role is to oversee the safety of the sites maintenance department.

This position will see you:
·         liaising heavily with relevant departments
·         implementing the site safety management system
·         advising teams of trade persons on their safety legislative requirements

Specific duties will include:
·         Audits of compliance to the safety management system
·         Providing technical support to maintenance teams
·         Facilitation of risk assessments
·         Incident investigations
·         Reviewing and implementing changes to the current safety systems,
·         Solve problems adhering to site safety and influence operational staff

The successful applicant will preferably:
·         possess a degree in OHS although previous experience within health and safety on a mine site
·         coupled with a trade background will also be highly regarded

It is essential that you demonstrate the ability to understand legislations and build relations quickly with all facets of the business.

Excellent communication skills are crucial to your success in this role.

·         This role is based in a town that provides all the amenities required and is just over 2 hours to the Queensland coastline.
