Manager of Health, Safety & Environment

Based in Campbell River , British Columbia, Helifor Canada Corp. operates a fleet of Boeing Vertol 234, 107 and MD500 aircraft providing logging and heavy lift helicopter services to the forestry, mining, construction, power line and petroleum industries in North America.

• Helifor is looking for a practical, energetic, goal oriented person to develop, implement and maintain an integrated Environmental, Health & Safety program using a Systems approach to Safety Management.

The Manager will:

• Build upon the existing components of Helifor's present safety system, as appropriate, to ensure compliance with applicable Health & Safety legislation and SMS requirements of the Canadian Aviation Regulations
• Develop and implement initiatives to further establish a culture of safety and hazard awareness within our organization

Qualifications of the ideal candidate:

• Possess a professional or technical degree in the Health & Safety field, or a combination of education and extensive experience in aviation or heavy industry environment
• Knowledge of Federal and Provincial Health & Safety legislation and regulations
• Strong communication skills; must have an influential style to gain buy-in and promote a culture of safety and hazard awareness within all levels of our organization
• Passion, energy and enthusiasm for improving Health & Safety
• Strong organizational, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
• Team player with exceptional interpersonal, problem-solving and diplomatic skills
• Willing to travel to remote locations
