Superintendent Metallurgy

In this role you will be offered the flexibility of either a family residential placement in a safe and exotic location or FIFO roster of 15 days on / 13 days off to your point of hire.
Excellent medical and international primary education facilities are provided on the island.
As the Superintendent Metallurgy you will hold a key role within department, leading the Metallurgy section in developing the most cost effective and efficient processes to maximise performance as well ensuring production targets are met.
Key elements of the role include:
· Providing leadership, coaching and training to Senior Metallurgists, Plant Metallurgists, Graduate Metallurgists and Metallurgical Technicians
· Leading the development of improvement projects in all areas of the process plant, mine-to-mill, crushing, grinding, flotation, pressure oxidation, oxygen plant, leaching, elution gold recovery and tailings discharge
· Directing the metallurgy group in effectively monitoring the performance of the plant, identifying and solving process problems in a timely manner and documenting leading practices in the form of SOP
· Co-ordinating the development of strategic business plans, budgets and medium-short term plans for the Process Plant
· Actively participating in all departmental activities, including skills training, departmental communications or tool-box meetings and other activities as required
· Ensuring that there is a culture of open communication within all levels of the section and that all employees / contractors comply with policies and procedures.
· Ensuring that the Metallurgy section meets or exceeds the company's safe requirements through monitoring of on-job OH&S standards and following up occupational health and safety issues
· Actively participating in a culture of best OH&S practice in the work group through leading by example, and through mentoring and development of personnel
· Contributing to the major expansion projects underway at the company's operations, including commissioning of new equipment and development of integrated operating strategies
· Acting for the Manager Process Plant as and when required, assisting in providing coverage of roster cycles and during periods of leave.
This position requires a mature, reliable and hard working person who is able to work safely and responsibly at all times.
The role is focused on adding value to the operation through optimising the operation of the processing plant, directing project work to target operational improvements and providing technical direction and mentoring to the metallurgy group.
The successful candidate will have:
· A tertiary qualification in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering from a recognised institution
· A minimum of 8 years experience in metallurgical roles in processing plants, including at least 3 years experience in a senior supervisory or technical role
· Strong computer skills and exposure to computer based plant control systems
· Well-developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills in English
· A demonstrated track record in analytical problem solving skills together with an aptitude to solve technical difficulties
A desire to drive improvement and change in a technically and culturally complex operation
