We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer - Gearing
to join our highly skilled manufacturing team at our Milwaukee, WI. Headquarters location.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Manufacturing/Process Engineer
at P&H Mining Equipment is responsible for the analysis of manufacturing
process flow and capacity conditions within the P&H National Avenue
Manufacturing Facilities, through observation, investigation and simulation
- This is a Quick Response
Manufacturing environment with a low volume / high mix product offering (CNC
Machining Operations producing large metal parts, gearing, etc.).
- Identify and pursue cost saving and
process improvement opportunities at the National Avenue Manufacturing
Facilities.
- Read and translate gear charts for
improvement and approval of processes.
- Communication of process changes
within machining and gearing areas to shop personnel, along with the securing
of union support for changes.
- Development, project management and
implementation of capital projects.
- Schedule and organize presentations
and negotiations with potential vendors.
- Organize and facilitate training for
new processes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Manufacturing Engineering degree or
5-10 years of applicable job experience including gearing manufacturing and
machining processes.
- Experience w/ large gear and cutting
tool technology / processes including CNC programming concepts for machine
tools including gear cutting equipment.
- Proven knowledge of machine tool
specifications and capabilities.
- Understanding of manufacturing
systems including Quick Response Manufacturing (QRM) and the relationship of
dynamic systems from a lead-time, utilization, and capacity perspective.
- A working knowledge of material
properties such as steel alloys, surface finish, and hardness
characteristics.
- A working knowledge of geometric
tolerances and constraints and their relationships to gearing applications.
- Self-driven achiever, with
demonstrated effective interpersonal communication, relationship building,
organizational and project management skills are needed to interact with
various employee levels and outside vendors to develop timelines, schedule
meetings, gain buy-in for change, etc..
- Prior experience effectively
interacting with a highly skilled unionized workforce is also a plus.
- Strong computer skills in Windows
XP, Microsoft Word and Excel are also needed.
