Superintendent Production Planning

The Long Term Planning Department is responsible for strategic short-
and long term planning as well as operational support in line with the
company’s mission of safe, long term growth and production focus.
Position
- A vacancy exists for a Superintendent Production Planning in the Long
Term Planning Department
- Reporting to the Manager, Long Term Planning
- The successful incumbent will be responsible for planning the interplay
of mining resources in order to meet annual production targets in line with the
marketing plan and Business Unit objectives.
Main responsibilities
- Lead the optimal design of production limits and scheduling of available
ore reserves in order to extract maximum value from the BU assets
- Monitor and evaluate the mining process to ensure optimal utilization of
equipment
- Implement improvement projects/research adhering to sound management principles
- Guide the development of sound mining engineering principles in the way
work is done
- Maintain a safe, healthy and accident free workplace with minimal impact
on production
- The incumbent should possess the following competencies
- Planning and Organising: Organising and scheduling events and activities
and resources. Setting up and monitoring timescales and plans
- Quality Orientation: Showing awareness of goals and standards. Following
through to ensure that quality and productivity standards are met
- Specialist Knowledge: Understanding technical or professional aspects of
work and continually maintains technical knowledge
- Problem Solving and Analysis: Analysing issues and breaking them down
into their component parts. Making systematic and rational judgments based on
relevant information
- Oral Communication: Speaking clearly, fluently and in a compelling
manner to both individuals and groups
- Strategic: Demonstrating a broad-based view of issues, events and
activities and a perception of their longer term impact or wider implications
- Commercial Awareness: Understanding and applying commercial and
financial principles.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in mining plus a minimum 5 years mine production
experience with minimum 2 years exposure in mine planning
- Experience with Mining Software, e.g. MineSight, Vulcan
Desirable Requirements:
- High level of mining computer application
- Working knowledge of Whittle, COMET or similar Mine Optimisation software
will be a definite advantage
