Senior Chemist

The Processing Department is responsible for the safe, efficient and
effective processing of U3O8 in accordance with operating plans based on sales and
market commitments.
Position
- A vacancy exists for a Senior Chemist in the Processing Department
- Reporting to the Superintendent Laboratory Services, the successful
candidate will be responsible for developing reliable analytical procedures and
providing accurate and critical information from chemical analysis to internal
customers for short & long term planning as well as for process control purposes.

- Manages laboratory operations
- Cost Control
- Supervises the Laboratory Team
- Ensure continuous improvement
The incumbent should possess the following competencies

activities and projects well in advance and takes account of possible changing
circumstances; identifies and organises resources needed to accomplish tasks;

milestones.

- Analysing: Analysing numerical data and all other sources of

probes for further information or greater understanding of a problem; makes
rational judgements from the available information and analysis; demonstrates
an understanding of how one issue may be a part of a much larger system.
- Applying Expertise and Technology: Applying specialist and detailed
technical expertise; uses technology to achieve work objectives; develops job
knowledge and expertise (theoretical and practical) through continual
professional development; demonstrates an understanding of different organizational
departments and functions.
Minimum Requirements:
- BSc Degree (Chemistry); National Higher Diploma or B.Tech in Analytical
Chemistry
- Three (3) years working experience in a laboratory environment
- Two (2) years supervisory experience.
- Code BE (08) drivers license.
Desirable Requirements:
- Appropriate working experience in working with XRF; ICP; GC and
laboratory instruments will be an added advantage.
- Appropriate working experience in metallurgical or chemical laboratories
will be an added advantage.
- Short listed candidates will be subjected to assessments.
