Manager Long Term Planning



Department

  • The Long Term Planning Department is responsible for medium and long term mine planning, geological and survey functions on the mine
  • The Department provides a service to the operations and maintenance departments.

 

Position

  • Based at Rossing Mine Site, this position reports to the General Manager Operations
  • The Long Term Planning department’s main deliverable is the delivery of ore body information for the provision of medium and long term mine plans for operation
  • The incumbent ensures the sustainable development of the mine and determines how that impacts on the community
  • The incumbent furthermore has to ensure that overall there is effective co-ordination between the plans provided for all stages of the process (geology, mining, extraction, refining/reduction)

  • Management of ore body knowledge and Long Term Mine Planning activities
  • Development of synergies/consistency

  • Continuous improvement
  • Plans and budget

 

The incumbent should possess the following competencies

  • Balancing long and short term requirements to make decisions that maximise shareholder value and Business Unit performance.
  • Adding value by promoting innovation and leveraging new ideas
  • Developing and executing operational plans that deliver superior results
  • Ensuring effective and efficient deployment and utilisation of all resources
  • A good understanding of regulatory permitting requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
  • Self motivated, accustomed to working proactively in positions of responsibility and accountability

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.Sc Degree in Mine Engineering or Geology.
  • Code BE drivers licence
  • 10 years experience with at least a minimum of 5 years in a senior managerial capacity in one of the following disciplines: mine planning, geology, processing business management

 

Desirable Requirements:

  • A Masters degree in relevant discipline will be an advantage
  • Certification as a professional mine engineer or geologist
  • Understanding of provisioning systems and the related logistics
  • Understanding of business economics, cost structures, budgeting systems and financial Reporting
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop individuals
  • Knowledge of mining and chemical processing and an ability to develop operational available
  • resources.
  • Ability to develop and implement continuous improvement concepts, making greater use of all employees’ skills.
  • Short listed candidates will be subjected to assessments.
