GIS Technician

DQSI is hiring GIS Specialists to perform the following tasks:

• Scan geologic and engineering data from hard copy and add to digital file stored in the corporate datastore
• Geo-reference TIFF maps
• Enter metadata for TIFFs and geo-referenced maps
• Move digital maps and test from individual Unit folders and add to digital file stored I the corporation datastore
• Add and / or modify bookmarks in digital file
• Quality check and resolve discrepancies in legend-type information on,maps and text
• The ideal candidate will have Bachelors or Associates degree in GIS or a related field, have experience using ArcGIS 9, be detail oriented, able to follow established procedures.

Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of computers, Access, Adobe, and databases
• Scanning experience
• Data entry experience
• Ability to resolve data discrepancies
• Ability to learn limited tasks in Geologic Interpretative Tolls software
• Ability to work well with other employees
• Knowledge of geology and associated data
• Ability to work alone with little supervision
• The work location: New Orleans, La. (Elmwood Park Area)
• Candidate must be able to pass a standard security investigation and background check prior to the start of work
