Senior Geologist

The successful candidate will report in to Exploration Manager, Nigeria; and under the guidance of the Exploration Manager and the Chief Geoscientist (based in the UK) will provide geological services for Centrica’s activities in Nigeria.  Specific activities will include:-

• Geological evaluation of operated acreage, including basin evaluation, prospect generation, risk analysis.
• Participation in the preparation and execution of exploration work programmes to identify drilling targets.
• Helping to develop well proposals.
• Supervision of sub-surface aspects of drilling operations.
• Legacy data gathering and co-ordination. Electronic and paper database checking and maintenance. Database auditing.
• Communicating ideas and concepts to management and partners.

The successful candidate will preferably be educated to MSc level in Geology/Geoscience or a closely related discipline and have significant experience with an operator and/or relevant service companies.  Well site operations, wireline log analysis, stratigraphy, prospect evaluation/risking and reservoir characterisation/development geology experience are also very important as is a good understanding of geological software applications (principally Petrel, the Landmark suite of geoscience packages and REP).

Finally a commitment to geoscience and HSSE excellence is a must, as are first rate communication, personal, Inter-personal, reporting and cultural awareness skills; so that excellent relationships can be developed and maintained with all stakeholders including Centrica Head Office in Windsor UK, partners and the Nigerian Authorities.
