Geological Technician

Geological technicians work closely with geologists and geophysicists to help identify, propose, and drill oil and gas opportunities.  The GeoTech must be versatile and be willing and able to perform a wide range of functions.  Below is a list of some potential duties:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Digital data loading and manipulation
• Digitizing well logs
• Building well log cross-sections
• Railroad Commission research
• Extracting information from well logs and reports
• Working with well data
• Interact with geologists, geophysicists and other technicians
• Collate information collected from a range of sources such as well logs and seismic surveys
• Copying, folding, and filing of maps well logs and other data as required
• Computer data input
• Working with a variety of technical tools to support the geological and geophysical functions of the company
• Researching, validating and exploiting geological, geophysical and oil-related information with project groups or individuals

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

• Technical skills suited for research, validation and use of geological, geophysical or oil-related information.
• Sound judgment, data analysis and capacity to synthesize information
• Organizational abilities and autonomy
• Ability to work in a team
• Computer skills
• Knowledge of Petra a +

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

• Professional GeoTech experience
• Degree in geology or geophysics is a plus.
