The front end division of the company, the "Mining Business Unit" is a producer and supplier of uranium, the raw material for the nuclear cycle. With operations on five continents, it engages in all activities related to the geological prospecting for deposits, the extraction and processing of the uranium ore, site reclamation after mining and the marketing of uranium.

The company is developing several new mining projects worldwide, and has several open pit and underground mines in operation in Canada and Africa.

Job Description

  • Based in Paris, France, the Open pit Mine Designer and Planner will set up common mining software standards for all open pit operations and projects for the Company’s Mining BU will carry out mining design and scheduling and will support operations and projects.
  • Currently, SURPAC is being used on most Company open pit projects and operations
  • A change to GEMCOM is now being considered.

In this context, you will be responsible for:

  • Recommending standards for open pit mine design, planning and scheduling methods for all Company open pit operations and projects.
  • Launching Gemcom in the Company’s Mining Engineering Department in the Paris Head Office.
  • Introducing Gemcom to the Company’s operations in Canada and Africa.
  • Organising training for Company operational staff.
  • Designing new open pit projects with the engineering teams.
  • Providing expertise in design, planning and scheduling in existing operations.
  • You will report to the Mining Engineering Manager within the Expertise and Technical Services Division
  • You will work closely with other departments within the BU (Geology, Ore Reserve & Estimation, Field Operations, New Projects)

Your Profile:

  • You have minimum 10 years experience in mining:
  • Mining engineering and design of open pit mines;
  • Mine planning and scheduling in an open pit operation;
  • You have excellent knowledge of GEMCOM and SURPAC software;
  • You have excellent communication skills and have experience in working with different cultures;
  • You have a good level in English, knowledge of French is a plus;
  • You have proven management and training experience;
  • You are willing to relocate to Paris, France
