Surveying Assistant

As part of our ongoing succession planning a vacancy has arisen for a Surveying Assistant based at the mine.

Purpose:

  • To provide the technical support to the salt production process ensuring legal compliance and efficient development of mine operations.
  • This role will report to the Technical Services Manager/Mine Surveyor and support him in providing the necessary information and advice to the mine management team to enable safe and efficient mine operations and AMU activity.

The key elements of this job are:

Providing support for the Mine Surveyor in acquiring and processing data including:

  • Traversing
  • Leveling
  • Surveying details
  • Setting out
  • Updating plans
  • Processing survey data

Providing support for the Technical Services Manager in ventilation engineering including:

  • Ventilation surveys
  • Planning of ventilation
  • Supporting construction work related to ventilation

Providing support for the Technical Services Manager in areas of strata control including:

  • Strata control measurements
  • Preparing reports
  • Processing strata control data

Providing support for the Technical Services Manager covering all aspects of underground environmental compliance at the including:

  • Gas detectors (fixed and portable)
  • Dust monitoring
  • Preparing reports

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Safety and Health performance.
  • Compliance level with all statutory and Company provisions.
  • Contribution to reserves being made in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Communication of information to the relevant mine personnel.

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum three years experience in surveying.
  • Relevant qualification in surveying.
  • Knowledge of statutory regulations.
  • Adaptable to shift work.

This is a technical role which will require the successful candidate to demonstrate strong numeracy, written and verbal communication skills. Experience in surveying is preferable with previous underground experience required and a basic aptitude for the tasks indicated above
