Sales Geophysicist



The analysis of gravity and magnetic data in combination with seismic data provides a more complete exploration strategy as interpretational uncertainties are reduced through the analysis of additional rock properties. The company has been able to demonstrate that significant geological information can be gleaned from gravity and magnetic data in both frontier and mature exploration areas. As such, the requirement for their services continues to grow.

  • In this role, your primary responsibility will be to represent the Company in the industry by selling and promoting their integrated interpretation software, gravity and magnetic data, and their acquisition and processing consulting services.
  • As such, this role is ideal for someone with a geophysical background and experience in marketing or selling technical solutions or data. Alternatively, it would suit someone with the right technical background and a desire to move into sales. The Company realise that you may not have all the technical skills required and are committed to providing full training of all their solutions. Also, you will work along side senior sales personnel and will be supported and guided in your role.
  • Working alongside an experienced sales team, the Company is committed to providing support and mentoring where needed and you will be trained in all relevant technologies, work practices and Company sales methodologies.

Responsibilities:Reporting to the Vice President Exploration Services, your key tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • To seek out and cultivate potential customers for the company's products and services.
  • Develop sales leads and opportunities for the company's integrated interpretation software, gravity and magnetic data, and their acquisition and processing consulting services.
  • Develop, negotiate and close sales opportunities and contracts.
  • Develop good working relationships with assigned clients and contractors and participate in developing client specific sales plans.
  • Develop, maintain, and extend client relationships.
  • Collect, prioritise data/product/service requirements and communicate them effectively within the Company, ensuring that your client views and perceptions are represented.
  • Ensure that a high level of customer satisfaction is maintained throughout the service delivery
  • Liaise with clients and/or contractors throughout duration of projects
  • Assist the marketing group to devise effective marketing strategies - i.e. providing geophysical and geological technical support where needed, creating panels and displays for Trade shows and other marketing presentations, etc.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic geoscientist with a sharp commercial acumen who wishes to work with the world's only independent service company specializing in both Gravity Gradient Imaging and conventional gravity and magnetics.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:

  • A degree in Geophysics, Geology or Geoscience is essential.
  • Strong geophysical and/or geological knowledge/understanding essential.
  • Previous sales or marketing experience highly advantageous but must have the desire to succeed in sales.
  • Good technical and commercial skills - with the ability to articulate the technical value of solutions to E&P companies essential.
  • Ability to learn and sell geophysical solutions to potential and existing clients essential.
  • Knowledge of the application of potential field geophysics to exploration highly desirable
  • Technical background of gravity and magnetic data, products and/or services highly desirable
  • Understanding of the link between geological and geophysical interpretation, highly advantageous.
  • Team player - proven ability to work with all levels to accomplish goals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - must be able to relate to team members and communicate confidently with clients
  • Solid project management skills - ensuring a high level of client satisfaction at all project stages
  • Enthusiasm and drive to keep abreast of new trends and technologies in this market.
  • Self motivated individual - use initiative and lead
  • Willingness to travel
  • Must be service orientated
