Position Overview
- Environmental scientist based at the Client's Mine Site office assisting
Environmental Project Manager to manage environmental compliance issues
associated with the development of a mine expansion project
- Contributing specifically to ESHIA studies and report development.
Main Responsibilities & Duties
- Overseeing and co-ordinating in-country ESHIA activities, liaising with
client and local consultants and design institutes, data collection and collation,
data analysis, reporting.
- Overseeing and co-ordinating the Ukrainian OVOS (Environment Impact
Assessment) work package to be managed by a local Ukrainian consultant and
undertaken by a local design institute
- Overseeing environmental permitting updates and applications by Ecoline
and a local design institute including current and future requirements
- Reporting on status of the environmental permitting/licensing needs and
progress
- Assisting with preparation of Environmental Management Program and
implementation of same.
- Assisting with environmental advice and management of activities for
ongoing early works including camp construction activities, dewatering and
overburden stripping
- Ensuring compliance with international standards and best practice
guidelines.
- Assisting with implementation of international standard EMS
Qualifications & Experience Required
- Educated to minimum degree level standard
- Ukrainian or CIS national
- Experience of ESHIA processes – especially extractive industries
- Previous experience of OVOS in Ukraine or FSU desirable
- International environmental project work experience
- Report writing
- EMP implementation and EMS experience
- Experience of liaising with regulators, consultants and contractors
- Self starter
- Team Player
