The province of Katanga in the south east
of the Democratic Republic of Congo lies on a geological sub-structure known as
the Lufilian Arc. This region is known as being one of the richest mineral
deposits in the world. Congo is known to have
huge deposits of copper, cobalt, tin, gold, diamonds and uranium to name but a
few of the commodities that Congo has been richly
endowed with.
An integral part of the long-term strategy of our Client's business is
to develop an extensive exploration program with the objective of finding new
sources of copper, cobalt and other metals to feed into their pipeline of
proven reserves. In this regard, the Company has successfully acquired
Exploration Permits to a 15,000 sq.km area of strategic sites located across Katanga.
The Company’s exploration team consists of a team of 80 with 15 senior
geologists is aggressively looking for the next big discovery. The Company has
an excellent reputation of successfully managing mining projects and building
processing plants in the DRC.
The Company are looking for an experience geologist to spearhead the
company’s exploration program
This Exploration Manager will be a dynamic and driven individual with
previous record of discoveries in Africa
- You will have experience of exploration, planning, evaluation, analysis,
reporting and maintaining exploration budgets within targets.
- The target area is large and has numerous prospective minerals
including: copper, cobalt, gold, diamonds and tin.
- Ideally the successful candidate will speak English and be fluent in
either French or Swahili, though French is preferred
- You should be willing to travel to the DRC and within the Katanga region, visiting
government departments, mineral prospects and exploration sites
- You will be willing to be based in the UK or the DRC and
the DRC placement will be offered on a residential or FIFO basis.
The exploration team are well trained and experienced, though leadership
is required. The team is also well supported with 17 drill rigs and staff to
man these rigs.
This is an exciting role and would suit a professional with good
standing in the industry; a Professional accreditation would be useful too as
the company plan to raise private financing within the next 12-months, a task
in which any new incumbent would be welcome to part-take. For this task a high
level of reporting and a well-published individual would be prized
